From the Desk of T-Herbert Jeffrey

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is a great pleasure to have an opportunity to work with the outstanding young people and staff that comprise the Positive Alternative Learning Center.  I am excited about extending some of the work that has already begun here as well as the new initiatives that will be implemented.  The following is my commitment to you, the Normandy School District, and the Normandy Community at large:

The PAL Center Staff will work diligently to guide your children to obtain a sufficient amount of knowledge that will continue to propel them towards becoming productive citizens.  We will utilize a student centered intervention and technology based program designed to build "a wide range of cognitive and foundational reading skills with a lasting effect on students' ability to learn and read proficiently."  These interventions will be specifically designed to help your child accelerate their learning and keep pace with the prescribed academic standards.

In addition to strengthening the academic skills of our students, we will also work with your child in personal development areas.  The methods, programs, and initiatives will be consistently geared toward the building/bettering of the whole child.  The experiences that are provided to them will prove to be an invaluable asset to them presently and in the future.  It is our desire to use this group of students and other avenues to alter Positive Alternative Learning Center students' awareness and opinion of what opportunities are available to them upon high school graduation.  It is a well known fact that many students all across this country are often ostracized because of their ability to successfully perform in the classroom.  We intend to make being INTELLIGENT & PRODUCTIVE the ‘Cool' thing to do.  Please partner with us in this endeavor by reminding your child that there are no limits to their dreams and those dreams begin by working hard and learning all they can right now.
